Monasteries and centres

Besides the practice days shared by the whole tradition, the app can follow the schedule of a particular monastery or centre — its pujas, teachings and retreats. The schedule comes from the source the monastery keeps itself; we translate the names of the events.

How to follow

Following monasteries arrives in the next version of Buddhist Calendar for iPhone.

How to join

The calendar is open to communities of authentic Tibetan Buddhist lineages. We review every application by hand and may ask for a reference from a teacher of the lineage.

  1. The community belongs to a recognised Tibetan Buddhist lineage — Nyingma, Kagyu, Sakya, Gelug, Jonang or one of their branches.
  2. It is guided by a teacher recognised in that lineage.
  3. Its schedule is public and kept by the community itself: an iCal or Google Calendar link, a public API, or a page on its website.
  4. The application comes from someone authorised to speak for the community.
